Methods

The following articles were analysed to gather the proteome content of erythrocytes.

The gene or protein list provided in the studies were processed using the ID mapping API of Uniprot in September 2018. The number of proteins identified and mapped without ambiguity in these studies is indicated below.
Only Swiss-Prot entries (reviewed) were considered for protein evidence assignation.

CLONING

Through a proteomic analysis of rat brain clathrin-coated vesicles, Ritter et al. (2003) identified Necap2. The deduced 266-amino acid protein contains a WVQF motif that was shown in rat Necap1 (611623) to mediate binding to the alpha-adaptin subunit (AP2A1; 601026) of the adaptor protein-2 (AP-2) complex. Western blot analysis detected broad Necap2 expression in rat tissues.

MAPPING

The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the NECAP2 gene to chromosome 1 (TMAP SHGC-74267). ... More on the omim web site
