Major facilitator superfamily domain-containing protein 2B (MFSD2B)

The protein contains 497 amino acids for an estimated molecular weight of 52964 Da.

Cation-dependent lipid transporter that specifically mediates export of sphingosine-1-phosphate in red blood cells and platelets (PubMed:29045386). Sphingosine-1-phosphate is a signaling sphingolipid and its export from red blood cells into in the plasma is required for red blood cell morphology (By similarity). Does not transport lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) (By similarity). (updated: Jan. 31, 2018)

Methods

The following articles were analysed to gather the proteome content of erythrocytes.

The gene or protein list provided in the studies were processed using the ID mapping API of Uniprot in September 2018. The number of proteins identified and mapped without ambiguity in these studies is indicated below.
Only Swiss-Prot entries (reviewed) were considered for protein evidence assignation.
