Protein identification was indicated in the following studies:
The following articles were analysed to gather the proteome content of erythrocytes.
The gene or protein list provided in the studies were processed using the ID mapping API of Uniprot in September 2018. The number of proteins identified and mapped without ambiguity in these studies is indicated below.
Only Swiss-Prot entries (reviewed) were considered for protein evidence assignation.

The reference OMIM entry for this protein is 603660
The mammalian ribosome is composed of 4 RNA species (see 180450) and approximately 80 different proteins. By differential screening of a human lymphocyte cDNA library with probes derived from actively dividing or quiescent quail neuroretina cells, Herault et al. (1991) isolated cDNAs encoding ribosomal protein S12 (RPS12). The deduced 132-amino acid human RPS12 protein is 97% identical to rat Rps12. By Northern blot analysis using a rat Rps12 probe, Pogue-Geile et al. (1991) found increased levels of RPS12 mRNA in 4 of 4 human colorectal tumors compared to matched normal colonic mucosa. RPS12 is expressed as an approximately 480-bp transcript. Kenmochi et al. (1998) mapped the RPS12 gene to 6q using somatic cell hybrid and radiation hybrid mapping analyses. ...
